New for this year

Many schools offer the DofE Bronze Award but the Silver Award Expedition is usually in the middle of GCSE exams and is therefore not popular with many schools. Our new DofE Summer Schools offer help for students wishing to take the Silver Award by enabling them to go from start to finish in five intensive days. Find out more

Our work with Independent Schools

We do a lot of work with Independent Schools, especially when it comes to training for Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expeditions, providing support for teachers or taking the lead ourselves. Read a case study of a highly successful ongoing programme of DofE training that we are providing for a prestigious Independent Grammar School in Yorkshire.

Welcome to Addventure...

Addventure Awards Ltd is a Huddersfield-based company providing various training services linked to the outdoor environment. Since our launch in 2008 we have specialised in training young people for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expedition, working with schools and other groups. We also offer a variety of general and specialist first aid training courses, outdoor skills training, and team building activities.

Led by managing director, Mark Clarke, Addventure’s team of licensed instructors are all highly qualified, experienced and insured.

Mark himself (pictured left) has a long standing interest in the outdoors, which developed from his involvement in the Sea Cadet Corps, both as a cadet, and member of staff, he was Commanding Officer of the local unit for 5yrs, then worked for the SCC as a Senior Boatwork Instructor in North Wales; this coupled with his Mountain Leader Award and DofE assessors qualification, Mark is well placed to offer advice, and to put together the best package to suit your needs. He is also a long-standing member of the West Yorkshire based Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team, positions have included First Aid Officer, Deputy Team Leader and Council Member.

With Addventure you can expect friendly, high quality instruction; enabling you or your group to make the most of the great outdoors.

We specialise in Duke of Edinburgh Expedition training

We work with schools and other groups to support all aspects of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expedition.

We offer training packages of varying duration, based in the South Pennines. These can be 5 days midweek (to include a Practice Expedition), 3 day ‘long weekends’ (including a hill day with a Mountain Leader), 2 day intensive weekends or 12 week training blocks as an after school club (1½ hour sessions) with an optional hill day with a Mountain Leader to consolidate the training.

If you have a preferred location within the UK we can operate from a local centre. We also provide support for practice expeditions including wild and remote country, or independent DofE Accredited Assessors.

This training is available all year round either at our venue located centrally along the M62 corridor or at your chosen location within the UK. More details

Outdoor first aid training for individuals and groups

In the outdoor environment professional help can be a long way away, meaning that people caught up in an outdoor first aid incident need the skills to manage what can be a long-lasting situation. We offer practical outdoor first aid training courses for individuals and groups that will ensure that you know what to do if you find yourself in this position. All courses provide lots of hands on opportunities to ensure that you learn truly useful skills rather than simply leaving the course with ‘head knowledge’.
